it isn’t fair, at all, that there are no crash courses, no ‘how-tos’, no ’50 ways’ on growing up, no one ever told me it’s not only about being independent, paying your own bills, taking care of mortgages…but a whole lot of crap which i may not want to be party to…i realized that it’s also a place where people exchange expensive gifts, smile less, laugh lesser and that is if ever condescendingly, discuss art and philosophy, they curse/criticise bollywood, say no to metal(seriously!), people are no more fiery in their cynicism; the walk definitely does not measure up to the talk, are part of the ‘i do not do fb’ wannabe cool brigade (yeah but are very much on google+, goodreads, linkedin etc.), where fiction is no-no, the more obscure the author, the more factual the genre, the more like it, you no longer have any idea what’s cool, you stop trusting people, you are cynical about relationships, when there is no angst in you and nihilism appeals no more; infact you are too grown-up to be dramatic about anything, when confessing a guilt doesn’t make it any easier rather makes it more real…
you grow out of your heroes when you hit the ‘grown-up’ world
you no longer eat, play, love without an agenda or laugh, cry, jump in abandon or sing, dance, make a trip at whim
you cant even use the comic sans font (its only times or arial!!), bloody hell :)
you sideline aspirations for more practical things, like mortgages, or planning a baby or thinking about getting ‘settled’
we all are hiding behind this facade, pretending to be all grown-up…it’s terribly exhausting, this whole charade of grown-up-ness…protocol, etiquette, political correctness —think about it, if we all are conditioned to behave in a certain manner as per the text book definition won’t this render us as clones of each other…it’s a conspiracy, how can one express individuality through collective conformity
adding a little unnecessary rudeness and disrespect can take a meaningless interaction to a battle of wills and add drama to an otherwise dull day on a totally different level, how intoxicating…maybe i don’t want to sit here with my four screen monitor with bloomberg terminal and look at these pricing charts and algorithms and talk to this ibank in a jargonful of fancy language…maybe i want to join a beneficiary or direct a kid's theatre or cook brazilian pastel or play on a broadway or design an outfit, maybe i want to become an inspiration, maybe i don’t want to colour inside the lines…
growing up is so overrated :)
#guess its the growing amount of grey hair and slowing metabolism ;)
##adulthood, its exactly not that exciting place to be at, i remember admonishing chotu once ‘grow-up’ and he retorted back “yaar growing up bahut boring kaam hai, tum karlo mere liye” :) isnt life's a lot more fun when you aren't responsible for your actions, i wish ;)

I totally get what you feel.. It sucks being adults. What we can do is rebel to be true to who we are, whenever we can, and try not to cause too many ripples.. I guess life isn't about living anymore.. Its about surviving..
